I grew up in the legacy of an alcoholic’s home. Although my childhood was marred with difficulty and tragedy, this upbringing has now inspired me. With my book, I hope to help others learn to confront and overcome the fears, pain and ghosts of the past to influence the present and future. It is my hope that by reading April Straka’s journey in Supreme Sacrifice, it may provide new markers, insights, and understanding to how we might have lost our way. I want readers to find their way back to peace and empowerment.
I realize that alcoholism is prevalent enough so that most people have been affected by it. But my novel paints a very unique portrait of the way alcoholism can take hold of lives.
What if your father died in a mysterious car crash before you resolved your complicated relationship, and only by moving away from the industrial city of your birth to start over in the Deep South were you able to unlock the answers to his death? In Supreme Sacrifice, that’s just what April Straka is facing as she sets off on a compelling journey of self-discovery.
My main message in this book, and advice that I fully support for anyone, is to follow your dreams. Even at the lowest point of despair, determination and faith can take you wherever you want to go. If you have a similar story, if this book resonates with you at all, or if you have anything to offer, this new blog space will allow us to continue the discussion started with my new book.
